Woz Plates- Mark 3

After some development with the help of Yorkshire Divers (thanks, guys) here's the result- some backplates and associated bits and bobs so you can get your harness just the way you want it without emptying your wallet in your LDS. UK postage and packing is charged at cost or feel free to collect from Nottingham- M1 J26 and you can have a cup o' tea and your delivery cost back.

Plate finishing tips:
As they come off the lasercutter they have nice shiny edges but the sharp burrs need taking off with a file or some rough emery paper. To do a proper job it will take you a couple of hours. Just do one side at a time and work methodically over the plate. The areas that have been burned by the laser need careful attention to remove a bit of the stainless as if burned bits are left, they can develop a bloom of rust. Also where the bend lines are, the sharp tip of the bender may have dug into the plate and left some tiny bits of normal non-stainless steel in there which need to be sanded out. If in doubt, get the plate deburred and polished and the process will remove the sharp edges and contaminants leaving a luvverly finish.

Features of the backplates:
Compared to others on the market (e.g., Combro) these have additional slots for cam bands and are wider at the top.

The mk 3 plate has no silly carrying handle (which just got in the way), an additional 25mm crotch strap slot as well as the 50mm one. It also has a couple of extra holes positioned for the NAS backplate pouch. The cylinder mouting holes are now in 3 sets, all spaced at 11". The centre camband slots have been removed.

Custom plates

Drop me an email with a drawing of the backplate of your dreams and I'll send you back a CAD drawing for you to approve and sign off along with a cost. Pretty much any material that can be laser cut- aluminium, stainless and in thicknesses in stainless up to 15mm. Then off to get the bends put in and you are away.

Custom beadblasting
Beadblaster back in business. Hooray!

How about your name beadblasted into a plate? Or a nice shiney name with a fancy matt plate finish? Send me your ideas and I'll tell you if it can be done. Pretty much any design that can be created in 2D from any font or graphic. If you could cut it out with scissors and stencil it, then I can beadblast it, from your name to a fancy logo.
